College Grove Strings, also known as "The MacKrell Sisters," is a string quartet that plays in the Nashville, Tennessee area. We offer you the best in string music for your event, whether it is a wedding, party, reception, corporate gathering, church service, or any other event that you need music for. College Grove Strings plays string music across many genres. Whether you desire classical, popular, Christian, classic rock, show tunes, movie tracks, country, or even bluegrass, we can tailor your music to fit your needs. We are not a contracting company! This means that when you book our group, the same core group of musicians will show up every time! If any one of the four sisters is not available, we have a small, select group of musicians that we regularly play with that sit in as needed. When you book us, you will never receive musicians that have not ever played together before or musicians that we have never met! With College Grove Strings, you don’t have to worry about us sending you a random mishmash of musicians for your special day— we are delighted to offer a quality that is a step above this and would love for you to experience the difference!

The Full Story

Charis, Cana, Christa and Carmel MacKrell... All sisters!

They were all born and raised in the Nashville area by their parents Jan, a church organist and pianist, and Fred, a songwriter who dabbles in guitar. For years, the MacKrell name was at the top of Mid-State and All-State orchestra competitions, and have since shared the stage with artists such as Charlie Daniels, David Archuleta, Orla Fallon, Lee Greenwood, Vince Gill, Michael W. Smith, Mike Weaver, Anne Wilson, as well as have appeared in music videos with David Phelps, Steve Green, R.LUM.R, and many more. The Sisters have performed on some of Nashville's largest stages, including the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, Bridgestone Arena and the Ryman Auditorium. The quartet also appeared on the reality TV show, "Chrisley Knows Best," playing hymns during a phony funeral!

The sisters, both together and solo, lead worship at World Outreach Church and other area churches, play with local symphonies and augment area ensembles.

College Grove Strings performs in the Greater Middle Tennessee region, in such cities as Nashville, Brentwood, Franklin, Spring Hill, Thompsons Station, Murfreesboro, Smyrna, Gallatin, Hendersonville, Lebanon, Mt. Juliet, Columbia, Shelbyville, Lewisburg and Clarksville. We have also been known to venture into Kentucky and Alabama.
